JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno ensured that the Indonesian economy rose through the tourism sector.

"We will continue to encourage the development of sustainable tourism investment that brings prosperity to the community," said Menparekraf Sandiaga Uno in a written statement in Jakarta, as quoted by Antara on Tuesday, May 1.

On the second day of Eid al-Fitr, Menparekraf Sandiaga Uno left for New York, United States of America. Sandiaga will attend the invitation of the President of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

“I will attend the invitation from the Chair of the UN General Assembly, Abdulla Shahid. This time in the High-Level Thematic Debate event," said Menparekraf Sandiaga Uno.

In his invitation this time, Sandiaga will be the key spokesperson who will explain the development of tourism villages and a just economy for all levels of society.

In addition, Menparekarf will also discuss community-based tourism which is implemented in the tourism village development program.

"This is in accordance with the strategic plan of the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), namely as an effort to restore the quality and fair world tourism sector for the welfare of the community," said Sandiaga.

The discussion related to tourism at the UN General Assembly will be held on May 4, 2022, at the UN headquarters, New York, United States.

Previously, Menparekraf Sandiaga Uno said the growth of tourist villages was a symbol of the revival of the Indonesian economy.
