JAKARTA - The Minister of State Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir suggested three things to overcome the density of homecoming traffic on toll roads.

First, he suggests continuous synchronization of information. Second, consistency in carrying out predetermined rules such as odd-even, one-way, and speeding up access in and out of rest areas.

"Thirdly, the alternative paths that you have prepared for scenarios, from plan (plan) A to plan D. We will continue to focus on that," Erick said in a written statement quoted by Antara, Saturday, April 30.

The Minister of SOEs said an extraordinary surge occurred in the Lebaran 2022 homecoming flow. This could not be separated from the longing of many people who had not gone home for two years.

In his monitoring, Erick said the density began to occur when vehicles entered areas outside Jakarta. Meanwhile, the southern route is reported to have not been maximized due to the lack of public facilities such as toilets and places to eat.

"I've been monitoring by air. I feel the confusion and complexity that is not easy considering the expectations are extraordinary because two years of not going home," he said.

"I'm sorry I'm here, not because I don't believe it or want to check but we want to give moral support, that's the main thing. Because I know that whatever we do is not perfect, but the most important thing is that we try to synchronize, update regularly without blaming anyone, indeed at this time we are tired and we try to keep our emotions in check, and stay consistent what has been decided by the National Police Chief and the Minister of Transportation," added Erick.

The Minister of State-Owned Enterprises also asked Telkom and Telkomsel to help increase information that the capacity of planes and trains is still available for going home.

Erick assessed that the use of train and airplane transportation modes helped reduce the capacity of travelers using land routes.

"From the beginning we have pushed for alternatives, not only via toll roads, but also trains and planes," said Erick.
