Whoops! The Price Of Beef Meat In Cianjur Reaches Rp. 140,000/kg Ahead Of Eid

JAKARTA - The price of beef at the traditional market in Cianjur, West Java, has started to rise from Rp. 120,000/kg to Rp. 140,000/kg, so the Cianjur Department of Trade and Industry plans to conduct market operations if prices continue to soar ahead of Eid.

Head of the Cianjur Industry and Trade UMKM Cooperatives Service (Diskoperindag), Tohari Sastra when contacted on Saturday, said that ten days before Idul Fitri, the prices of a number of commodities began to creep up, including beef and chicken.

"To anticipate the skyrocketing meat prices, we will coordinate with Bulog to hold a low-cost market operation ahead of Eid. However, the increase is not expected to soar because it will have an impact on sales," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, April 23.

His party noted that ten days before Eid, the price of beef, which had fallen at Rp. 120,000/kg, is now Rp. 140,000/kg and is expected to continue to rise to Rp. 170,000/kg.

"Meanwhile, the price of chicken meat from IDR 32 thousand per kilogram this afternoon has crawled back to IDR 40 thousand per kilogram. We will continue to monitor the development of meat prices and other food needs ahead of Eid," he said.

A meat trader at the Pasar Induk Pasirhayam Cianjur, Andri Willy, said that the price increase only occurred on Saturday evening, where previously the price of beef was still selling for Rp. 120,000/kg, now it is Rp. 140,000.

As for the price of chicken meat, he said, from Rp. 32,000 to Rp. 40,000/kg, as consumption increases before the holiday.

"It is possible that the price of beef will rise again to Rp 30 thousand to Rp 170 thousand per kilogram," he said.

A vegetable trader at Pasar Muka Cianjur, Uci (32), said the price of vegetables such as chilies, potatoes, carrots and spices has started to increase, although the increase is no more than Rp. 1,000 per kilogram, traders estimate that the price increase will continue to rise until Eid.

For cayenne pepper, which had dropped a few days after fasting, now it has increased from Rp. 49,000 to Rp. 50,000/kg and red chili from Rp. 35,000/kg to Rp. 36,000. For the high price, garlic and red are still above IDR 31,000/kg.
