JAKARTA - Member of Commission XI of the DPR RI, Sihar Sitorus, stated that the distribution of credit by the Association of State-Owned Banks (Himbara), namely Bank Mandiri, BNI, BRI and BTN should be able to see the distribution, so that credit recipients are truly evenly distributed throughout.

According to him, this is done so that all debtors such as Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) can get a significant portion to develop their business.

Sihar said that the current conditions, both in collecting funds and providing credit by Himbara in the Riau Archipelago, were quite good. This can be seen from the fairly good profit receipts, and it indicates the existence of credit growth in the Riau Islands, especially in Batam City.

However, Sihar sees that there is considerable potential so that the absorption of credit to MSMEs in the region can be more optimal, and this, according to him, requires a truly measurable and precise distribution effort.

"So we will see later which MSMEs have the potential to become champions, become superior. Thus, we can know which sectors we can actually encourage to develop, so that this will provide strengthening in the middle board in our economic structure," said Sihar in his statement to VOI, Wednesday 20 April.

Furthermore, he revealed that he wanted MSME actors whose businesses were visible but unbankable could immediately upgrade to bankable. However, this is not necessarily done instantly.

"Surely here we need assistance such as literacy on banking products, digital literacy, business literacy," he explained.

Not only that, Sihar also urged Himbara to continue to approach economic actors such as MSMEs.

"They are also confident, comfortable coming to Himbara even though the purpose is for credit, so they know what banking products are and they can use them to develop their business," he concluded.
