Good News From BI, The Business World Has Been Exiting Since The Beginning Of The Year And Expected To Continue

JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) reports that based on the results of the Business Activity Survey (SKDU), it is known that there has been an increase in business activity in the first quarter of 2022.

Head of the BI Communications Department Erwin Haryono revealed that this was reflected in the value of the Weighted Net Balance (WNB) of 8.71 percent, higher than the WNB in the fourth quarter of 2021 at 7.10 percent.

"The improvement in business performance is indicated, especially in the agricultural, plantation, livestock, forestry and fisheries sectors, which are in line with the historical pattern of the harvest season and the manufacturing sector in line with increased industrial activity and mobility," he said Thursday, April 14.

According to Erwin, by observing the development of business activities, the production capacity used in the first quarter of 2022 was recorded at 73.08 percent, an increase from 72.60 percent in the previous quarter.

Erwin also revealed that the labor sector is showing signs of improvement even though it is still in the contraction phase. Meanwhile, the financial condition of the business world is indicated to improve compared to the previous period, particularly from the aspect of liquidity, accompanied by easier access to financing.

"In the second quarter of 2022, respondents estimate that business activities will continue to increase with WNB 23.24 percent," he said.

Meanwhile, an increase in business activity is expected to occur in several main sectors, namely the mining and quarrying sector, the manufacturing industry sector, as well as the trade, hotel and restaurant sector.

"This positive projection cannot be separated from the increase in community activities as the National Religious Holiday (HBKN) Eid al-Fitr is coming in and the easing of mobility policies," concluded Erwin.
