Agricultural Commodities In Palangka Raya Are Increasingly Interested In Export Markets

JAKARTA - Head of the Palangka Raya Agricultural Quarantine Center, Central Kalimantan, Iyus Hidayat, said that various agricultural commodities to ornamental plants from the local province are increasingly in demand in the export market.

"The agricultural commodities are slabs of rubber, palm shells, eucalyptus sawn timber and ornamental plants or ornament plants from Central Kalimantan," he said in Palangka Raya, quoted from Antara, Saturday, April 9.

Recently, he has released commodity exports which are carried out simultaneously in various places, in one of the warehouses of the rubber owner, PT. Borneo Makmur Lestari in Palangka Raya.

He explained that the released export commodities had an economic value of Rp. 28.4 billion with the destination markets of China, Japan, Hong Kong and the United States.

He said, quarantine services during Ramadan will continue as usual, and the Palangka Raya Agricultural Quarantine will continue to open 24/7 export certification services with a picket system.

"From the data on agricultural commodity traffic through its working area, it shows a positive increasing trend," he explained.

Therefore, Iyus is optimistic that the threefold increase in exports that was launched by the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia, Syahrul Yasin Limpo, can be realized, through the efforts and cooperation of all parties.

Meanwhile, at the same time President Jokowi Widodo in a series of working visits in Jambi also released exports of agricultural commodities in the form of areca nut, with a total volume of 126 tons worth IDR 4,069 billion.

This leading commodity from the plantation sub-sector shows a significant trend of increasing value. Nationally, the export of areca nut in 2021 is recorded at 215,260 tons with an economic value of Rp. 5.11 trillion, an increase of almost two times compared to the value achieved in 2020 which was only Rp. 2.85 trillion.

In addition to providing a number of assistance to areca nut planters in order to encourage the continued development of this leading export commodity, the president ordered that the exported commodities must be processed first.
