JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) is said to have provided 216,608 seats for long-distance trains and local trains per day as transportation for Eid 2022.

KAI's VP of Public Relations Joni Martinus revealed that the determination of the Eid transportation period is D-10 to D+10 Lebaran or April 22 to May 13, 2022.

"In that period, KAI has programmed an average of 401 trains per day," he said in an official statement quoted on Sunday, April 3.

According to Joni, sales of train tickets during this year's Eid transportation can be accessed on the official PT KAI application, website, and all other official channels.

“Currently, we are implementing a policy of selling long distance train tickets from D-30 before departure. As of April 1, KAI will sell tickets starting D-45 before departure so that people can buy tickets for travel from April 1 to May 16, 2022 and so on," he said.

Joni also explained that this change was made to provide space for the community to plan their journey by train during the Eid transportation period.

He also reminded prospective customers to be careful in entering dates, choosing routes, and entering personal data when making reservations so that their travel plans are not mistaken.

"KAI asks the public to follow developments regarding the requirements for using trains during the Lebaran transportation period from the government. We are currently waiting for the official regulations and we will immediately socialize them when the regulations are published," he explained.

For information, as of March 31, KAI has sold 155,672 long-distance train tickets for departures for the period 22 to 30 April or 15 percent of the total tickets provided.

"KAI will implement health protocols according to government regulations. Since entering the station, customers will be checked for body temperature and provided with hand sanitizer. Likewise when on the train, officers periodically clean the points that are often touched by customers with disinfectant. KAI consistently reminds customers to continue implementing health protocols so that their health can be well maintained," he concluded.
