JAKARTA - Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) visited the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenkomarves) building to send a letter requesting public information regarding the statement from the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan regarding the issue of postponing the 2024 election.
Indonesia Corruption Watch researcher Kurnia Ramadhana said that ICW demanded data disclosure, which Luhut mentioned that the government was capturing people's aspirations regarding support for the postponement of the 2024 General Election.
According to him, this aspiration is known from the big data conversations of 110 million people on social media.
"Why are you concerned here because every information submitted by a public official, namely Brother Luhut, based on the Public Information Openness Law, must be able to explain how the methodology is, when and for what purpose this research is carried out," Ramadhana said in front of the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs Building, Wednesday, March 30.
Ramadhana continued, her party had looked at a number of laws and regulations and could not find the task of the Kemenkomarves to talk about politics.
"We have looked at it and there is no clause regarding the task of talking about politics. So this has attracted the attention of ICW and the wider community to collect what Luhut said," he continued.
He determined that his party would still wait for a response from Luhut in accordance with the mechanism in the Information Disclosure Act.
"There is a time limit for them to respond. If they don't respond, of course we will take litigation through a trial at the Central Information Commission," he concluded.
Litigation itself is a term in law regarding the settlement of a dispute faced through the courts. The process involves the disclosure of information and evidence related to the dispute at trial.
