JAKARTA - The government through the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) emphasized that in the near future it will not impose a levy of Non-Tax State Revenue or PNBP for digital content uploaded to cyberspace and has a selling value.

This was confirmed by the Director General of Budget of the Ministry of Finance Isa Rachmatarwata to the media crew at a press conference on APBN Kita.

"Currently, it is only the initial stage of discussions with the Kemenkominfo (Ministry of Communication and Informatics) and several other related elements," he said through a virtual channel quoted Tuesday, March 29.

According to Isa, the initial focus of the levy will be on non-tax revenue sources. This means that the tariffs tend to be fixed. Then, content creators do not need to pay directly to the tax office but only through intermediary institutions that oversee the industry.

"Well, if it is included in PNBP, it should join (collected) to the PNBP of the Ministry of Communication and Information," he said.

Furthermore, Sri Mulyani's subordinate admitted that he could not confirm when the final regulation would be released considering that the government was still working on the best regulatory scheme.

"Because this is still being studied so that until now we have not been able to convey what the concrete things are like and the formulation process is still ongoing," he asserted.

For information, the Non-Tax State Revenue sector throughout last year showed a smooth performance.

In the 2021 APBN, the government targets PNBP to collect Rp 298.2 trillion. However, in its realization, the collected PNBP has penetrated the Rp452 trillion figure, equivalent to 151.6 percent of the set ceiling.

Meanwhile, for this year, PNBP is set at Rp335.6 trillion, with the realization until February of Rp42.6 trillion.
