JAKARTA - The implementation of the 2022 Mandalika MotoGP, which was considered successful and as expected, made the parties involved in it enthusiastic to immediately improve themselves to prepare for the next event. PT Pertamina (Persero) is no exception, which is the main sponsor of the racing event which was held at the Mandalika International Circuit, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

Not wanting to be satisfied with the success of this year's implementation, PT Pertamina (Persero) now admits that it is busy cleaning up preparations for the implementation of the 2023 Mandalika MotoGP. One of them is by preparing various products with international standard quality, so that they are ready to be marketed in the global arena.

Through its subsidiary, PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (PT KPI), Pertamina produces fuel oil (BBM) and basic lubricants that meet the quality of BBM and Racing Lubricants with international standards. Both products are claimed to have passed the initial stage of testing for characteristic testing with several predetermined parameters.

"We are targeting that BBM and Special Racing Lubricants that use PT KPI's base oil will be ready for use in the upcoming 2023 Mandalika MotoGP Race. Therefore, in the near future an official certification will be carried out by a laboratory appointed by the FIM as well as endurance tests on official circuits to ensure continued performance. optimally in racing simulations," said PT KPI's Corporate Secretary, Ifki Sukarya, in his official statement, Wednesday, March 23.

The testing process, according to Ifki, was carried out by the Center for Research and Development of Oil and Gas Technology (Lemigas), which is an independent Indonesian international standard fuel and lubricant testing laboratory. Tests were carried out on 650 CC and 250 CC vehicle types, where the Main parameters of BBM Racing produced by PT KPI were in accordance with FIM (Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme) standards for Category 1 (MotoGP, Moto2, and Moto3).

"The test results show that Pertamina's Racing BBM has a high Octane Number (RON 100 and MON 90). This ensures that the fuel can operate on high compression racing engines," said Ifki.

Another parameter, continued Ifki, is the very low Existent Gum, so it has good oxidation resistance at high-temperature racing motorcycle engine operations. Pertamina's Racing BBM is also proven to have a low Sulfur content of less than 1.0 mg/kg which ensures environmentally friendly emission levels and meets the best international standards.

Ifki revealed, the quality of special racing lubricants with base oil produced by PT KPI that were tested had similar characteristics compared to special racing lubricants with full synthetic base oils which are currently 100% imported.

"The production of base oil equivalent to full synthetic quality by PT KPI provides an option for base oil prices that are more affordable and competitive for manufacturers of special racing lubricants as well as the potential to save foreign exchange," said Ifki.

In addition to the Characteristics Test, the Fuel and Racing Lubricants have also passed the Performance Test. In the performance test, the Chassis Dynamometer method is used which shows the use of fuel and special racing lubricants that use base oil produced by PT KPI which shows a fairly high maximum power and torque. In addition, the test also shows that the AFR (Air Fuel Ratio) is required to be in the optimum AFR range (12.5 - 13.0) so that fuel efficiency is optimal, explained Ifki.

"The results of the LEMIGAS test show that Racing Lubricants that use base oil produced by PT KPI meet the standards set out in the SNI JASO 7069.2 specification for API SN/JASO MA2 performance performance with SAE 10W-50," said Ifki.
