SAMARINDA - Cases of recovery from COVID-19 in East Kalimantan Province as of Thursday, March 17 increased by 1,467 people. While positive confirmed cases increased by 382 people.

Spokesman for the COVID-19 Task Force for East Kalimantan Province Andi Muhammad Ishak said the highest additional recovered cases occurred in the Samarinda region with 515 people.

Followed by Balikpapan 232 people, Berau 196 people, Kutai Kartanegara 183 people, Bontang 95 people, Paser 88 people, West Kutai 72 people, East Kutai 57 people, North Penajam Paser 29 people.

"The number of recovered patients continues to experience a drastic increase, however, the public must always be vigilant considering that virus transmission is still happening," Andi said in Samarinda as quoted by Antara.

Andi revealed that 85 additional positive cases occurred in East Kutai, 83 people in Balikpapan, 46 in Paser, 37 in Berau, 34 in Bontang, 32 in West Kutai, 30 in Kutai Kartanegara, 23 in North Penajam Paser and 3 in Mahakam Ulu.

"There are still six additional deaths, currently the total number of deaths is 5,646 people," said Andi.

Andi emphasized that although the development of cases continued to decline, the condition of the status of the area in East Kalimantan had not changed, namely nine areas in the red zone status, while one yellow zone area, Mahakam Ulu.

"For COVID-19 patients who are still undergoing treatment, the number continues to decline, currently the number is 6,844," Andi said.

He appealed to the public to remain disciplined in implementing health protocols, especially the use of masks and avoiding crowds.

"We have to prevent all the potential that can transmit the virus, remember that virus transmission is still happening around us," said Andi Muhammad Ishak.
