OJK Inaugurates Representative Office In Malang, Commitment To Consumer Protection Is A Priority

JAKARTA - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) is said to have just inaugurated the Malang OJK Office Building which was ratified directly by the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, Wimboh Santoso, today.

In his remarks, Wimboh said that the presence of OJK through the Malang representative office further emphasized the commitment to supervision, consumer protection, and also to increase financial literacy in the regions.

"We also want the existence of the OJK office to boost the regional economy by encouraging new economic sources, including financing to the MSME sector," he said on Monday, March 14.

According to Wimboh, the role of the representative office is targeted to smooth out the three priority plans of the OJK during the pandemic. First, accelerating economic activity. Second, increasing the intermediation of financial service institutions. And the third provides protection for consumers.

"Especially in Malang, we are synergizing with other stakeholders to encourage positive growth in the financial industry so that it has a significant impact nationally," he said.

On the same occasion, the Mayor of Malang expressed his gratitude for the presence of OJK which is expected to further avoid illegal financial products.

"The inauguration of the Malang OJK Office can strengthen financial literacy for the community, increase curation or support the existence and development of MSMEs, and increase access to regional finance," he said.

Similarly, Member of the House of Representatives Commission XI, Andreas Edi Susetyo, urged the authorities to really provide protection to the public in the midst of the current of digitalization that has flooded the financial industry sector.

"The rapid development of information technology has caused disruption in the financial sector, so as mandated by law, OJK must be able to increase protection for investors and consumers. Hopefully with this building, we can make a presence with various parties so that the benefits are felt directly by the community to realize the welfare of the people, "he said.
