Almost 80 Percent Consumed By The Public, Pertalite Is The Most Widely Used Fuel

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) reports, based on the realization data in 2021, Pertalite consumption is 21 million Kilo Liters (KL) and is the type of gasoline fuel that is most consumed by the public. This consumption is almost 80 percent compared to other types of gasoline such as Pertamax, Pertamax Turbo and Premium.

According to him, this condition has occurred since last year. Currently, Pertalite has become the mainstay of fuel for the majority of Indonesian people.

"Pertalite is the most consumed by the public, the portion of Pertalite consumption is around 79 percent among other types of gasoline such as Pertamax, Turbo, or Premium. That is based on last year's realization. The existence of Pertalite is currently the most important because it is the backbone of BBM for the community," said the Head Bureau of Communication, Public Information Services and Cooperation of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Agung Pribadi in a statement received by VOI, Sunday, March 12.

He further revealed that the consumption of Pertalite is relatively increasing every year. From 2017 to 2021, Pertalite consumption is around 14.5 million KL, 17.7 million KL, 19.4 million KL, 18.1 million KL and 23 million KL.

"In 2020, Pertalite consumption decreased due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, in 2021 its consumption will increase again to 23 million KL. While this year it is projected to be around 23 million KL," he added.

On the other hand, the current development of world oil prices is still high. "Yesterday's daily Brent oil price was more than 130 US dollars per barrel. We continue to monitor developments in world oil prices and anticipate the impact. What is clear is that even though world oil prices continue to rise, the price of fuel which is consumed the most by the public must be maintained to protect people's purchasing power. , said Agung added.

The development of Indonesian crude oil prices or ICP is relatively increasing every month. From December 2021 to February 2022, the ICP prices were US$73.4 barrels, US$85.9 barrels and US$95.7 barrels, respectively. Meanwhile, for March 2022, the average provisional figure up to the 10th is 119.86 US dollars barrels.
