JAKARTA - A social movement based on the digital platform, PT Plasticpay Teknologi Daurulang, continues to encourage the community to be involved in handling plastic bottle waste. In fact, this business entity PT Inocycle Technology Group Tbk (INOV) already has 260 dropboxes of plastic bottle waste and eight units of Reverse Vending Machine (RVM) in several Jabodetabek areas.

"In the future, Plasticpay will continue to increase the number of dropboxes and expand its distribution network to enter other cities in Indonesia. In 2022, Plasticpay targets to add 800 dropboxes and 40 RVMs, and will enter other cities to reach more people who manage waste digitally," said Plasticpay CEO Suhendra Setiadi, Friday, March 11.

Suhendra also said that his party wanted to increase collaborative action with various parties, both government and private levels, to collect plastic bottle waste digitally using an application. As a result, during 2021, Plasticpay application users have reached more than 16,400 users, or an increase of almost 7 times compared to 2020 which was only more than 2,300 users.

The collected plastic bottle waste can be exchanged into Plasticpay Points through the Plasticpay application, which can later be converted into electronic money such as DANA, OVO, Gopay, LinkAja, and INACASH.

According to Suhendra, with more and more parties taking part in the action of processing plastic waste with Plasticpay, Plasticpay's collection point or dropbox locations are increasingly spreading.

"This also increases public awareness of plastic waste, which can also be seen from the increase in users of the Plasticpay application which is quite high in the past year," said Suhendra.

Suhendra added, in order to increase the recycle rate in Indonesia, Plasticpay has also expanded the types of plastic bottle waste that can be exchanged via dropbox plasticpay. Currently, Dropbox Plasticpay has facilitated the exchange of Polypropylene (PP), Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) plastic waste, and also High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE).

"This is one of Plasticpay's efforts to increase recycling rates and increase upcycle products from plastic waste, as a commitment to support and create a circular economy in Indonesia," said Suhendra.

Currently, Plasticpay has collaborated with various parties such as Le Minerale, Alfamart, Kopi Gadjah, Caffino, Milklife, 5Days, Sahabat Circulation Semesta, Bank Syariah Indonesia, Danone-Aqua, Chatime, Gojek, Bukalapak, and Tropical. Through this collaboration, it can be a form of Corporate Communication Campaign as well as the fulfillment of SDG number 12 and 17 for companies, where these activities can be part of the sustainability report for the companies involved.
