JAKARTA - The Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) of the Ministry of Finance recorded as many as 4.6 million annual tax returns (SPTs) for 2021 have been reported from January 1 to March 7, 2022.

"This number consists of 4.5 million individual tax returns and around 147,000 corporate tax returns," said Director General of Taxes Suryo Utomo at the annual SPT Reporting event by State Officials, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, March 8.

The reporting of tax return for individual taxpayers will end on March 31, 2022, while for corporate taxpayers it will end on April 30, 2022.

Nevertheless, the realization of the SPT reporting is still quite far from the target, which is in the range of 15.2 million SPT in 2022.

Therefore, Suryo hopes that the reporting of the Annual Tax Return by state officials can provide encouragement to the Indonesian people to submit the 2021 annual tax return as soon as possible.

From year to year, DGT continues to strive to improve services that are easier, more convenient, and safer for the public to report Annual Tax Returns, especially with the electronic e-filing system.

"If taxpayers can submit SPT reports without having to come to the tax office, they can report taxes from their respective places, and at any time," he said.

With the electronic system, he said that it would be easier for taxpayers to fill out their SPT, so that people are encouraged to make good use of the system.

Taxes are very much needed and needed for Indonesia's development, increasing intelligence, maintaining public health and social welfare, as well as state security.
