Regulate Mineral Trade, Government Issues Simbara

JAKARTA - The government launched the coal management information system (Simbara) on Tuesday, March 8. Later, through this system, all information related to the flow of coal production and sales will be integrated through this integrated system.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Arifin Tasrif, in his speech said that with this integrated system, it can prevent the illegal trade in coal and minerals, both by producers and by intermediary sellers.

"This application is a chain of processes from upstream to downstream, namely the mining planning process, refining processing and sales of mineral and coal commodities," he said at the SIMBARA Launch and the Signing of the MoU for Integrated Information Systems from Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities, Tuesday, March 8.

Through good coordination, continued Arifin, this system can realize the effectiveness of supervision and optimization of state revenues. Not only that, according to him, with Simbara, the Domestic Market Obligation (DMO) policy can be carried out in accordance with the applicable regulations.

"With Simbara, the supervision of compliance with the domestic market obligation (DMO) by business entities can be carried out more optimally and can regulate illegal coal mineral trade by business actors, both as producers and intermediary traders, which can result in leakage of state revenues," he explained.

Furthermore, Arifin explained, with Simbara, the single submission system facility for the shipping process becomes more practical, fast and accountable. "Simbara is here to support the synergy of business processes and the flow of mineral and coal data between ministries and institutions," he concluded.
