JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) will soon operate a Hybrid Solar Power Plant (PLTS) with a capacity of 1.3 Mega Wattpeak (MWp) located in Parak Village, Bontomanai District, Selayar Regency.

PLTS Hybrid Selayar will add to the new renewable energy mix and will strengthen the reliability of Selayar Island's electricity.

President Director of PLN, Darmawan Prasodjo said that the PLTS Hybrid owned by PLN was built on an area of 1.46 hectares (ha) with a total investment of Rp. 39.5 billion.

"This PLTS is targeted to be able to operate commercially in the first semester of 2022," said Darmawan.

PLN has compiled a roadmap to make the energy transition from fossil energy to renewable energy.

"The Selayar Hybrid PLTS is the first step of the many points we are working on. In the future, PLN will continue to build power plants based on renewable energy," explained Darmawan.

He continued, with the presence of PLTS Hybrid Selayar, it is hoped that it can increase the potential of tourism objects and encourage community economic activities because the electricity system is more reliable.

"In addition to aiming to improve the reliability of the Selayar Island electricity system, the presence of this PLTS can also reduce the use of fossil energy and reduce carbon emissions," he said.

With the operation of the Selayar Hybrid PLTS, the total capable power of the Selayar electricity system is 11.65 Mega Watt (MW), the peak load is 6.4 MW, so there is still a power reserve of 5.25 MW.

The presence of PLTS Hybrid Selayar, continued Darmawan, will also contribute to reducing carbon emissions by 1,400 tons of CO2 per year.

"We are grateful for the support provided by stakeholders in the construction of the PLTS, hopefully it can continue in its operation in the future," he concluded.
