JAKARTA - Astra Group's car sales are getting better. Throughout January this year, Astra has sold 44,308 units, up 65.14 percent from the same period in 2021 as 26,830 units.

Citing car sales data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo) released by Astra, Tuesday, February 15, most of Astra's car sales came from the Toyota and Lexus brands. The total is 22,886 units.

The contribution of Toyota and Lexus is equivalent to 51.65 percent of Astra's total car sales.

Responding to this achievement, Astra's Head of Corporate Communications Boy Kelana Soebroto said that Astra's car sales in January 2022 showed an improvement in people's purchasing power.

"We hope that this condition can continue to increase so that the car market in 2022 can contribute positively to national economic growth," said Boy in his statement.

Not only that, Astra also recorded an increase in sales of low cost green cars (LCGC). The number reached 8,728 units, up 21.58 percent from sales in January 2021 of 7,179 units.

Boy also said that the increase in Astra's car sales was also in line with the increase in national car sales.

Based on data from Gaikindo, national car sales throughout January 2022 reached 84,062 units, up 58.88 percent from the same period in 2021 as many as 52,909 units.
