JAKARTA – The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has again carried out its duties to protect the public in the financial sector by providing a statement related to the rise of cases of binary options fraud and trading robots.

OJK spokesman Sekar Putih Djarot said that his party urges the public to be more careful in choosing financial instruments.

In addition, the authorities also ask the public to be wise when offered an investment by first ensuring the legality of the company and the products offered.

"OJK has never issued a permit for binary options and forex trading robots," he said in a press statement today, Tuesday, February 15.

According to Sekar, this firm statement prohibits banks from facilitating binary options and forex trading robots which are reasonably suspected of containing elements of fraud, gambling, or ponzi schemes.

"OJK reminds influencers that in marketing financial products and services, always ensure that the financial products and services have a (legal) permit from the competent institutions in Indonesia, so that people are not trapped in illegal investments," he said.

Sekar added, please note that crypto assets and commodity futures trading products (gold, forex, foreign exchange, and others) are not financial products or services licensed by the OJK.

"However, the licensing, regulation, and supervision are with the CoFTRA (Commodity Futures Trading Supervisory Agency) of the Ministry of Trade," he said.

"For financial products and services licensed by the OJK, you can check the OJK website www.ojk.go.id or contact OJK Contact 157," said Sekar.

As previously reported by the editors, recently there are more and more financial schemes suspected of being fraudulent under the guise of binary options trading. One of the concerns is the emergence of the figure of Indra Kenz who is suspected to be affiliated with Binomo binary options trading.

In fact, the Bareskrim Polri plans to conduct an examination of Indra Kenz related to this issue.
