JAKARTA - Gibran Rakabuming Raka promised to immediately complete a number of infrastructure projects by 2022, after a year as Mayor of Surakarta.

"Many things have not been (realized) and will not be pursued in 2022," he said in Solo, Central Java, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, February 14.

He said that there are actually several physical projects that should be done in 2021. However, there are a number of obstacles that have an impact on the delay in development.

"Actually, I wanted to finish Lokananta last year, (the target) is to finish this year. Yesterday I got investors," he said.

Apart from Lokananta, he said, other tourist destinations such as the Taru Jurug Animal Park (TSTJ) have also obtained investors.

"This year too, later others are on the way, such as the Gatot Subroto area, Balekambang is just finalizing," he said.

In addition, the construction of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is also targeted for completion this year, in August to be exact.

"Later on, the Islamic Center will be built near (the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque) only. I'm looking for a bigger one, the location is close," he said.

Meanwhile, other work programs that are also Gibran's focus include the case of stunting and the poverty rate.

"We will review it later, because COVID-19 (poverty) will definitely increase. Later we will intervene in several fields, such as labor-intensive developments such as Palang Joglo (elevated rail construction)," he said.

As for the economic recovery, he claims that it is now starting to work.

"Later we will do more activities," he said.
