Response To The Opening Of Coal Export Faucets, Mardani Maming's Batulicin Maritime Ready To Add New Ships

JAKARTA - The government has again opened the faucet for coal exports for companies that have met domestic needs (domestic market obligation / DMO). The decision was immediately welcomed by the coal transportation service provider PT Batulicin Nusantara Maritim.

Director of Batulicin Maritim Yuliana predicts that the policy will encourage an increase in coal shipping activities. In fact, the company owned by the Chairman of Hipmi Mardani H. Maming is ready to transform by adding new ships.

"So that it will not only provide added value not only for the company, but can also contribute to the nation and state," said Yuliana in her statement, Thursday, February 10.

As is known, the government has lifted the ban on coal exports as of January 31, 2022. This means that coal exports can be carried out in early February.

Even though it has been lifted, the export ban will still apply to coal companies that have not met the domestic demand for DMO. The implementation of this policy takes into account the condition of coal supply and coal supply at the Steam Power Plant (PLTU) owned by PT PLN (Persero) and Independent Power Producer (IPP) starting to improve.

"The reason that coal exports are temporarily frozen for a month is to ensure the availability of domestic supplies, this is not legally and financially affected for the company as long as export activities are frozen," said Yuliana.

However, said Yuliana, the government must regulate the rhythm of the transportation of coal abroad, which is related to export permits which must have piled up due to the temporary ban for the past month.

Yuliana also assured that the company, which is a subsidiary of the Six Nine Group, will continue to support the government's efforts to take every step in the energy sector, especially coal and will continue to contribute in every available opportunity.
