JAKARTA - PT Polychem Indonesia Tbk which previously used a Steam Power Plant (PLTU) is now using electricity with a capacity of 2x15 Mega Watt (MW) distributed by PT PLN (Persero).

By switching to PLN electricity, Polychem Indonesia can increase productivity and efficiency so that it can be more competitive.

Executive Vice President Retail Regional Java, Madura and Bali PLN Abdul Farid explained, Polychem Indonesia will also purchase a Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) from PLN as a form of support to achieve the government's target of achieving Net Zero Emission 2060 and using internet facilities provided by its subsidiaries. "PLN understands that Polychem Indonesia does not only need reliable electricity support, but also recognizes the use of electrical energy from renewable energy," said Farid.

The signing of the minutes of the Incentive Captive, REC and Internet Icon+ agreement was carried out by Finance & Accounting Director of Polychem Indonesia Gunawan Halim and General Manager of PLN Banten Distribution Main Unit Sandika Aflianto.

Farid stated, this cooperation will certainly provide benefits for all parties, both PLN and Polychem Indonesia. For PLN, through this collaboration, PLN can fulfill its obligations to meet electricity needs.

"As for Polychem Indonesia, with this collaboration the potential savings obtained of course will be greater so that Polychem Indonesia can optimize the company's productivity," added Farid.

He further explained that by using electricity supply from PLN, Polychem Indonesia would benefit from saving operational costs and controlling environmental impacts more easily and efficiently.

Especially with the purchase of a Renewable Energy Certificate (REC), for every 1 unit of REC purchased, it states that 1 MWH of electricity comes from renewable energy sources.

"We hope that this good cooperation will also give good results. PLN is focused on providing reliable electricity without stopping," he said.

On the same occasion, the Director of General Affairs and Human Resource of Polychem Indonesia, Wiji Santoso, admitted that the energy factor in the manufacturing industry as a primary need contributes quite a lot of costs. Therefore, the transition of energy from independent generators to PLN is expected to increase cost efficiency so that it can be more competitive in the market.

"Similarly, industries that use our products can benefit from this efficiency and increase their production. So the benefits can be returned to PLN as well," said Wiji.
