Krakatau Steel Exports 30,000 Tons Of HRS Steel To Italy

JAKARTA - After opening early 2022 by exporting to an Asian country, namely Pakistan, PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk (KRAS) continues to export to European countries, namely Italy. Management said that the cargo had departed from the Cigading port on January 30, 2022.

Krakatau Steel's Commercial Director Melati Sarnita said, as much as 30,000 tons of Krakatau Steel's Hot Rolled Coil (HRS) steel was exported to Italy, bringing total exports in January 2022 to 63,731 tons, an 87 percent increase compared to exports in January 2021 which amounted to 34,022 tons.

According to him, the supply of steel in Europe during the pandemic is an opportunity for companies to continue to increase export activities to the country.

"Exports in January 2022 are the largest monthly export volume in Krakatau Steel's history. The previous export record was in December 2019 of 56,398," said Melati, in a press release, quoted on Thursday 3 February.

In addition to exports to Italy, at the same time Krakatau Steel also exported HRC steel and plate to Malaysia as much as 6,474 tons.

For the European region, continued Melati, during 2021, Krakatau Steel has exported to several countries including Belgium, Spain, Germany, and Portugal. Krakatau Steel has also exported to Australia and Malaysia previously.

According to him, this export program is part of supporting the government's program to increase the export value of iron and steel in 2022.

"We hope that in 2022 Krakatau Steel can increase its sales volume for the export market," concluded Melati.
