Heavy Traffic During Chinese New Year Holiday, Turns Out 147,000 Vehicles From The Regions Return To Jabotabek

JAKARTA - PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk recorded as many as 147,330 vehicles returning to the Jakarta, Bogor, Tangerang and Bekasi (Jabotabek) areas on the H Day of the Chinese New Year 2022.

"This figure is the cumulative traffic flow (traffic) from several Barrier/Main Toll Gates (GT), namely GT Cikampek Utama and GT Kalihurip Utama (east direction), Cikupa GT (west direction) and Ciawi GT (south direction)," said Corporate Communication & Community Development Group Head, Dwimawan Heru in a written statement, Wednesday, February 2.

Heru explained that the total volume of traffic returning to Jabotabek was up 14.5 percent compared to normal traffic for the November 2021 period with a total of 128,653 vehicles.

"For traffic distribution back to Jabotabek from the four directions, the majority were 72,024 vehicles (48.9 percent) from the East (Trans Java and Bandung. While from the West (Merak), there were 40,721 vehicles, an increase of 27.6 percent and 34,585 vehicles or 23.5 percent from the South (Peak) direction," he said.

For traffic returning from the east, to Jabotabek from the Trans Java direction via GT Cikampek Utama, the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, with a total of 37,835 vehicles, an increase of 27.3 percent from normal traffic.

Then, return traffic to Jabotabek from Bandung via GT Kalihurip Utama Cipularang Toll Road, with a total of 34,189 vehicles, an increase of 27.4 percent from normal traffic.

"The total traffic returning to Jabotabek from the direction of Trans Java and Bandung through the two GTs is 72,024 vehicles, an increase of 27.3 percent from normal traffic," explained Heru.

Traffic back to Jabotabek from Merak via GT Cikupa Tangerang-Merak Toll Road was 40,721 vehicles, or down 5.5 percent from normal traffic.

Meanwhile, the number of vehicles returning to Jabotabek from the summit via the Ciawi GT Jagorawi Toll Road was 34,585 vehicles, an increase of 19.3 percent from normal traffic.

Jasa Marga appealed to toll road users to anticipate travel before entering the toll road. Make sure vehicles and drivers are in top condition, comply with health protocols (use masks, wash hands, keep your distance and stay away from crowds) while in the rest area.

"Fill up enough fuel and electronic money balances, and obey the signs and directions of officers and take a break if you are tired of driving," he said.
