JAKARTA – Men's doubles pair Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto secured victory in the first round of the 2023 French Open.

They qualified for the second round by defeating Scottish representative pair Alexander Dunn/Adam Hall in two straight games, 21-13 and 21-16 at the Glaz Arena, Tuesday, October 24, 2023 evening Western Indonesian Time (WIB).

"This is the first match, even though we won the game we were not 100%, it could be said that it was not good," said Fajar after the match as received in the statement.

The 2023 French Open will be held in the city of Rennes. This is different from usual. The new stadium meant that Fajar/Rian had to adapt to the match atmosphere.

Adjustments were also made with a different shuttlecock from the previous tournament at the Denmark Open 2023.

"We were playing on court 3 earlier and it felt a bit dark, so that's what we were trying to get used to," said Rian.

Fajar/Rian, who are the first seeds in the Super 750 BWF event, are the first Indonesian representatives to advance to the second round.
