Not To The Second Round Of World Cup Qualification, STY Has Even Thought About Iraq

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team will undergo the second leg of the 2026 World Cup Qualification by visiting Brunei Darussalam headquarters at Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Stadium on Tuesday, October 17.

Although it has not been completed with Brunei, Shin Tae-yong as the coach openly admits that he is starting to think about preparations in the next round.

With a 6-0 win in the first leg to be held in Jakarta, the Indonesian national team has a great chance to qualify. Even though Shin Tae-yong's team lost 0-5 to Brunei, the certainty of qualifying remains in hand.

If tickets for the 2016 World Cup Qualification continued round are achieved, the team will then join Group F with Iraq, Vietnam and the Philippines.

After qualifying, the national team will be immediately awaited by two matches in November, namely away to Iraq headquarters on November 16 and hosting the Philippines on November 21.

The first agenda that will be undertaken by traveling to Iraqi headquarters actually stole Shin Tae-yong's attention. The reason is that this match is certainly not easy considering that the FIFA Iraq rankings are the team with the best position compared to other teams in Group F.

"What I experienced in football was that we could score a lot of goals or not, that also applies to tomorrow's match," said Shin Tae-yong as quoted from PSSI's official website on Monday, October 16.

"We will do our best, but actually we focus on group matches in November," he continued, referring to the match against Iraq.

Seeing the next, tougher agenda, the South Korean coach hopes Brunei will appear part. That way the Garuda squad will get a good game before meeting Iraq.

"Brunei showed great effort in his first match in SUGBK, Indonesia. But honestly in reality we have a better team than Brunei," he said.

"I hope Brunei can show even better efforts in the second match. That way we will also adjust their game by playing better and working even harder," explained the coach.
