JAKARTA - FIFA officially announced the schedule for the 2023 U-17 World Cup draw which will be held in Indonesia. In its official statement, FIFA said the draw would be held on September 15, 2023 in Zurich, Switzerland.

"With two months remaining to kick off the 2023 U-17 World Cup, the drawing for the tournament will be held at the FIFA head office in Zurich, Switzerland, on September 15, 2023," the FIFA statement was quoted as saying on Wednesday, September 13.

In the 2023 U-17 World Cup, there will be 24 teams competing to hunt for the title. The 24 countries are Argentina, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Canada, Ecuador, England, France, Germany, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, South Korea, Mali, Mexico, Marko, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Panama, Poland, Senegal, Spain, the United States, Uzbekistan, and Venezuela.

They will be divided into four pots consisting of six teams each for group draw. The placement of teams in pots was measured based on performance in the previous five U-17 World Cup events.

For Indonesia, which is the host, there are privileges obtained, namely being in pot 1 with leading teams, such as Brazil, Mexico, France, Spain, and Japan.

The 2023 U-17 World Cup draw agenda, which takes place at FIFA headquarters, will be held by the Director of the FIFA Tournament, Jaime Yarza.

Not only that, the winners of the 1995 U-17 World Cup, Stephen Appiah and Julio Cesar who are finalists of the 1995 U-17 World Cup with the Brazilian national team are also planned to attend the event which starts at 21.00 WIB.

The U-17 World Cup itself is scheduled to take place in four stadiums in Indonesia, namely the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), Si Jalak Harupat Stadium Bandung, Manahan Stadium Solo, and Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium Surabaya from November 10 to December 2, 2023.

Pot 1: Indonesia, Brazil, Mexico, France, Spain, Japan

Pot 2: Germany, Mali, England, South Korea, Argentina, Ecuador

Pot 3: New Zealand, Iran, Senegal, United States, Uzbekistan, Morocco

Pot 4: Canada, New Caledonia, Panama, Venezuela, Poland, Burkina Faso
