The Majority Of The Provincial Government Asks For PBTI National Conference Not To Be Postponed Even Though The Chairman Resigns

JAKARTA - A surprising decision was made by the General Chairperson of the Executive Board of Taekwondo Indonesia (PBTI), Lt. Gen. Retired Thamrin Marzuki. He resigned a few days before the National Conference (Munas) which was scheduled for September 4.

In his statement, Thamrin said, his decision was to maintain a conducive situation ahead of the National Conference, maintain the solidity of the Provincial Government and the PB.TI management which had been divided.

"I declare that I resign as Chairman of PB.TI and Candidate for Chairman of PB.TI for the 2023-2027 term of service," said Thamrin Marzuki, as reported by Antara.

Thamrin Marzuki's resignation was delivered after he chaired a meeting with several IT Pengprov on Thursday. After the meeting, Thamrin immediately submitted a letter of resignation to the Head of the Central Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) Lt. Gen. Retired TNI Marciano Norman.

Thus, the Taekwondo National Conference, which was originally scheduled to be held on September 4, was postponed. Currently, the Central KONI is a temporary replacement for the tasks carried out by the Indonesian Taekwondo Ketum until the time needed to resolve existing problems.

However, the decision to postpone the National Conference was met with opposition from the majority of IT provincial administrators (Pengprov). They asked for the implementation to remain on schedule, September 4-5.

"We (the majority of the heads of the taekwondo Indonesia Provincial Government) were present in Jakarta in preparation for the IT National Conference on September 4-5," said Head of the Maluku IT Provincial Government, Hengky Ricardo.

In addition to asking the National Conference to run according to schedule, Hengky said, the majority of provincial officials asked for the appointment of the caretaker of the Head of PBTI to be the authority of the provincial government.

Hengky then ensured that his party would conduct internal consolidation with provincial providers throughout Indonesia to lift devices whose duties were to accelerate the entire National Conference.
