JAKARTA - The Indonesian men's volleyball national team rose five places in the world volleyball standings after silencing Thailand 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, and 25-21) in the 9th place in the 2023 Asian Men's Volleyball Championship which took place at Hall 2 Shahidan Ahandost Hall, Urmia, Iran. Reporting from the website of the World Volleyball Federation (FIVB), Sunday, August 27, after losing to the Pakistan national team, the ranking of the Red and White team had dropped in 60th position. However, an additional 8.79 points from a win over Thailand made coach Jiang Jie's team move up to 55th in the world volleyball standings. The Indonesian national team is confirmed to finish 9th in the 2023 Asian Men's Volleyball Championship. The positive result made Farhan Halim et al. now the best among Southeast Asian countries based on the acquisition of the FIVB points with a total of 61.27 points in the world rankings. Under Indonesia, there is a Vietnam national team that collects 57.90 points and the Philippines national team is in third place by collecting 50.71 points. The Asian zone standings are controlled by Japan, which has just won the 2023 Asian Men's Volleyball Championship by beating the hosts Iran three straight sets, 3-0. Japan has collected a total of 334.34 points and is ranked 5th in the world. In the Asian zone, below Japan, there is an Iranian national team with a collection of 243.55 points followed by Qatar with 181.45 points. The Indonesian volleyball national team is now preparing for the Hangzhou 2023 Asian Games which will take place starting next September.
