Chelsea Need A Miracle To Get Rid Of Real Madrid, Frank Lampard: Special Things Can Happen At Stamford Brigde

JAKARTA - Chelsea's interim manager, Frank Lampard, was still able to show confidence and optimism even though his team lost to Real Madrid. The meeting between the two teams took place in the first leg of the 2022/2023 Champions League quarter-finals.

In an away match to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on Thursday, April 13, Chelsea returned to England with a 0-2 defeat. Two goals belonging to Madrid were scored by Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio.

The two goals in the first leg made Chelsea have to work harder in the second leg when they hosted. If they want to qualify for the semifinals, the Blues must win by a difference of three goals.

Even though it's hard, Lampard doesn't want his team to lose hope. Lampard expressed positive things to build confidence, because for him anything is still possible.

"Special things can happen at Stamford Bridge. We have to believe," Lampard.

"The door is still open (to qualify for the semifinals) and now it depends on our determination to open it wider or not," Lampard said as quoted by the Daily Mail on Thursday, April 13.

Dari kesalahan di leg pertama Lampard juga menemukan hal yang harus diperbaiki timnya yaitu soal kepercayaan diri. Mantan manajer Everton lalu meminta para pemain untuk bisa lebih yakin di leg kedua mendatang.

"The results are reality. There is a bit of insecurity. The players don't know how good their abilities are. Next week should be a fierce battle," said Lampard.

Chelsea have been convoluted this season and performed poorly. They have made two changes to manager from Thomas Tuchel to Graham Potter and are now turning to Lampard.

In the Premier League, Chelsea's position was pathetic. They are ranked 11th with a collection of 39 points from 30 matches that have been played.
