JAKARTA - The men's doubles Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin passed their first test at the Orleans Masters 2023 smoothly. They had no trouble winning a ticket to the second round.

In the round of 32 of the BWF Super 300 tournament, the pair nicknamed The Babies recorded a straight two-game victory over the Xin Yuan Boon/Tien Ci Wong pair from Malaysia.

In the match which became the first meeting for the two pairs, the Indonesian duo packed the 21-14, 21-17 advantage after struggling in 31 minutes.

"Today we are still playing early, so we are normal, hopefully in the future there will be no problems," said Leo in written information on PP PBSI in Jakarta, Thursday, April 6, 2023.

The Babies have held the advantage directly since the first game. With a solid defense, The Babies were able to make opponents depressed because of the difficulty of turning off Indonesian couples.

The pressure experienced by Boon/Wong makes their game out of control and often dies alone. Meanwhile, Leo/Daniel actually feel comfortable with the pattern they play, although there are still errors that can actually be avoided.

"We learned from mistakes in previous tournaments, hopefully with that we will get good results here. Today we still make a lot of mistakes ourselves. Tomorrow Daniel and I have to focus even more," Leo explained.

The Orleans Masters are the fourth tournament for the 11th-ranked pair on their European tour agenda. But the BWF Super 1000 All England is their best result by reaching the quarter-finals.

Meanwhile, the other two tournaments that are at Super 300 level are Swiss Open and Spain Masters, Loe/Daniel compactly and were immediately eliminated in the first round.

Therefore, in the last tournament in Europe this week, Leo/Daniel want to play optimally to consistently get through every match well.

"Obviously we want to win but we have to go through step by step, it's not easy, so we try our best first in every game," concluded Leo.
