JAKARTA - Nantes Player Jaouen Hadjam was forced to be dropped from his team before the match. Hadjam was not included in the team on the grounds that the player chose to continue fasting Ramadan.

Quoted from RMC Sport, coach Nantes Antoine Kamboure crossed out Hadjam from the cast list for the match against Reims, Sunday, April 2. When asked the reason, the coach said it was related to Hadjam's decision not to fast on the day of the match.

"I met them (Muslim players), we discussed. We work together so that everything goes well and that often happens," said Antoine Kamboure.

"There was a game on the weekend, the players were asked to win. When it goes on I have very simple rules, it doesn't matter for players who fast Ramadan for a week but on match day, it's forbidden," he continued.

Previously, it was known that Kamboure was indeed famous as a vocal coach about his attitude towards Muslim players who fasted Ramadan. When dealing with PSG in 2009, he had banned Muslim players from fasting while competing.

Even though it sounds discriminatory, in fact, the decision was taken by Kamboure with quite reasonable reasons. He deliberately did not include players who fasted for the convenience of the player and his own team.

"Those who fast Ramadan on the day of the match will stay at home. I will not disturb the health of the players or trouble their teammates," said Kamboure.

"When you don't eat all day, it becomes complicated," he added.

Unfortunately the decision did not produce good results for Nantes. The Komboure team finally lost with a landslide score of 0-3.
