5 Tottenham Hotspur New Manager Candidates For Antonio Conte's Successor

JAKARTA Antonio Conte has been officially kicked out of the seat of manager of Tottenham Hotspur after only 16 months of duty. The following are five strong candidates for the Italian man's replacement.

Conte and Spurs separated on Monday, March 27, 2023, for a mutual agreement. He was expelled after his scathing comments regarding club culture after a 3-3 draw against Southampton on Saturday, March 18.

In the meantime, Conte's assistant, Cristian Stellini, will occupy that position in the remainder of the season. Ryan Mason will act as his assistant.

Conte's successor will be Spurs' fourth manager in four years since Mauricio Pochettino left in 2019.

Here are 5 strong candidates to replace Conte:

Julian Nagelsmann

Julian Nagelsmann is now a strong candidate to fill the vacant position left by Conte after he was surprisingly kicked out by Bayern Munich.

Thomas Tuchel, another big name previously linked to Spurs, has replaced Nagelsmann in Munich. To that end, the Nagelsmann chance to join The Lilywhites is now open.

The former 35-year-old RB Leipzig coach was previously a candidate to replace Jose Mourinho in 2021 before he decided to take over coach Bayern.

Luis Enrique

Several reports have stated that the former Spain national team coach is open to coaching the eight-time FA Cup winning club.

Enrique has no job after resigning from the Spanish national team after failing in the last 16 of the Qatar 2022 World Cup as a result of being beaten by Morocco.

Mauricio Pochettino

Mauricio Pochettino remains a figure loved by the London public. He also currently remains in London after leaving Paris Saint-Germain last summer.

The Argentine is still a good figure in the eyes of observers. Teddy Sheringham, who is one of the Spurs legends, is one of many to support Pochettino again.

"I want to see Pochettino back. I think the way he wants his team to play football is ideal," Sheringham said.

Pochettino had previously brought Spurs to the Champion League final in 2019. Unfortunately, he failed to come out as champion after being beaten by fellow England, Liverpool.

Roberto De Zerbi

Roberto De Zerbi has managed to bring significant changes to Brighton since replacing Graham Potter who left and went to Chelsea.

Under Zerbi's tutelage, The Seagulls are still struggling to secure a place in European competitions. They are currently in seventh position in the standings with 42 points.

Since joining Brighton, De Zerbi has successfully promoted goalkeeper Jason Total to the first team. In addition, Evan Ferguson has also emerged as a talented young player. Something that would please clubs like Spurs who have a track record related to the promotion of young players to the first team.

Ryan Mason

Even though he only has Stellini's status as an assistant for the rest of the season, Ryan Mason has great potential. He is expected to attract the attention of the Spurs hierarchy.

Mason, 31, previously had filled the void in Spurs coach since Jose Mourinho was sacked. He took over the last seven matches of the 2020/2021 season.

Since retiring from football five years ago, the former England international has developed a strong reputation as a coach and popular among players.

Both Conte and Stellini have previously supported him to become a manager. If the club wants to promote from within, they can ask the former midfielder for help to calm Spurs supporters.
