JAKARTA UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou boasted that Deontay Wilder would behead Deontay Wilder when he confirmed that the duel agreement in the boxing ring with the American fighter was almost reached.

The Cameroon-French mixed martial artist (MMA) is currently a free agent after leaving the UFC. He did not renew his contract after defending his heavyweight belt in January 2022 after defeating Ciryl Gane.

Since then he has continued to aim for boxing fights, sports that he had dreamed of as a child. This wish is likely to soon come true because at this time he continues to negotiate with Wilder.

"Yes, we (I and Wilder) have spoken and now we are closer than anyone else," Ngannou said at The MMA Hour event quoted by The Sun.

Wilder isn't the only boxer Ngannou has challenged since he decided to leave the UFC for failing to reach an agreement in contract negotiations.

Former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is also included in the list of opponents he wants to face. However, Wilder is currently the most likely challenger to face first.

Ngannou mengungkapkan, musim panas tahun ini adalah tanggal perangan yang telah ditargetkan. Ia bahkan bertut besar akan bencang kepala lawannya jika duel itu terealisasi.

"I think someone will beheadless. I'm just going to try [so that it doesn't happen to me. I think maybe that's what's going to happen," he said.

Despite getting ready to get into the boxing ring, Ngannou did not close the door to return to mixed martial arts. The Professional Fighters League and ONE Championship are two promotions he can choose from.

"I know that I want to compete in boxing first and after that I will fight again in mixed martial arts. I will sign a contract with one of the promoters," he said.

"I haven't made a decision on that yet. I'm going to do what I have to do and what's interesting about this, obviously there's a huge amount of money here."

"I feel respected, respected. It's different. It feels different. Look, I never thought there was an MMA promotion that paid more than the UFC, or one that had more money than the UFC," he continued.
