JAKARTA - The "brotherly war" of fellow Indonesian representatives was again presented at All England 2023. Again, the Red and White men's doubles had to elbow each other to win tickets to the next round.

The world number one pair, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, will clash with the defending champion Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, Friday, March 17.

Their match is believed to be fierce because each pair is ambitious to board the highest podium of the tournament in the BWF Super 1000 category.

"By fighting Fajar/Rian Indonesia, we can confirm one (ticket) in the semifinals," Fikri said in a written statement released by PBSI.

Meanwhile, Fajar/Rian predict their efforts to win the All England for the first time will face a tough test in the quarter-finals. Although Bagas/Fikri are juniors, Fajar/Rian sees his junior fighting spirit as an aspect to watch out for.

"Bagas/Fikri, we see the extraordinary game here. They have more confidence because as defending champions, but for tomorrow we don't want to lose. Hopefully tomorrow we can play smoothly and optimally," said Fajar.

Indonesia placed eight representatives in the quarter-finals of the All England 2023.

It is believed that there will be mixed doubles, Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati. They have to face a Japanese couple who are famous for being tenuous and difficult to conquer.

Rehan/Lisa will face the 18th ranked pair in the world Kyohei Yamashita/Naru Shinoya in the first party to take place on the Minuru Yoneyama main field, Utilita Arena Birmingham.

"For tomorrow, we have only met them once and lost. We definitely want to learn the pattern again, they don't die easily, especially since the shuttlecock is heavy here, so tomorrow we have to be ready to appear all out," said Lisa, quoted by Antara.
