JAKARTA Zainudin Amali ensured that he would still be willing to help Indonesia's FIFA U-20 World Cup 2021 Organizing Committee (INAFOC) even though he was no longer the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora).
Amali officially resigned the position of Minister of Youth and Sports after President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) accepted his resignation on Monday, March 13, 2023. The decision to withdraw after he was elected deputy chairman of PSSI.
Releasing the position of Minister of Youth and Sports automatically made Amali also give up his position as chairman of INAFOC. However, he is willing to be bothered to welcome the 2023 U-20 World Cup in Indonesia.
"I will continue to help. My commitment to the President is to help FIFA U-20 and sports activities," said Amali while reviewing the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium accompanying the Chairman of PSSI, Erick Thohir.
Amali also said that he would remain close to the world of sports. He also opened up to contribute to the success of the U-20 World Cup later.
"What will I be assigned to do later because this is not a personal matter, but a state. I am assigned as what it is. Take care of grass or whatever," he said.
The U-20 2023 World Cup will be held from May 20-June 11 in six cities. Apart from Jakarta, other stadiums that will be used are Gelora Sriwijaya (Palembang), I Wayan Dipta (Bali), Mahanan (Solo), Si Jalak Harupat (Bandung), and Bung Gelora Tomo (Surabaya).
A total of 24 countries have confirmed themselves to qualify and will compete in the final round later. That includes Indonesia getting automatic tickets because of its host status.
