Central KONI National Working Meeting Officially Closed, MMA Sports Now Officially Become Members

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Central Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI), Marciano Norman, officially closed the National Working Meeting (Rakernas) which was held at the Golden Ballroom Hotel Sultan Jakarta, Monday, March 13.

There are several important decisions taken in the KONI National Working Meeting this time. One of them is to accept two new sports to be included in their membership.

The two sports are mixed martial arts or MMA and Pickleball.

In addition, there is also the establishment of new province KONI, namely South Papua, Southwest Papua, Central Papua, and Mountains Papua.

At the Central KONI National Working Meeting, Marciano invited all parties to unite and work harder for the sport of Indonesia's achievements.

This is in line with the theme of the National Working Meeting, namely "Sinergitas and Solidity of Sports Stakeholders to Lead Athletes to Win".

The theme is a form of our dedication, a form of our enthusiasm for the nation and state for Indonesian sports. Let's contribute to the Red and White, hopefully this will be a sign that future sports will be more advanced and better," he said when giving a speech.

On this occasion, the Head of the Central KONI also asked for the support of all parties to strengthen Sport Intelligence and Sport Science in order to provide added value to Indonesian athletes.

"Let's concentrate on opening the eyes of the world that the achievements of our athletes are equivalent to countries that currently dominate world championships or the Olympics," he said.

The following are some decisions made by the Central KONI National Working Meeting 2023:

1. The establishment of the new Provincial KONI in Papua, including South Papua, Southwest Papua, Central Papua, and Mountains Papua,

2. Receiving two parent sports, namely from mixed martial arts or MMA and Pickleball,

3. Agree to unite to take care of the sport, share and cover each other's shortcomings, and strengthen all existing stakeholders.
