JAKARTA The Indonesian badminton team held its first preparations for the 2023 All England event. Cold weather in Birmingham is a challenge for the Red and White representatives.

The inaugural exercise ahead of the launch of the Super 1000 BWG took place on Sunday, March 12 yesterday. In the two-hour session, Indonesian representatives had to struggle with the cold weather.

This was felt by the men's doubles representative Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan. They have to find a strategy to overcome the cold temperatures there in order to be optimal in the match.

"Today try to recover first, restore conditions and adapt another blow ahead of the match. Including with cold weather like this," Ahsan said in an official statement.

"With this weather, the warm-up must be increased. So, when you enter the field it is really hot and ready," said Hendra.

In that exercise, the first hour was filled with the men's singles and doubles teams. Then in the next hour it was the turn of the women's singles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles to take to the field.

Men's singles Jonatan Christie said that he used this first exercise to restore stamina. Moreover, Jakarta's long journey to England is quite draining.

"Today's first training focus on restoring stamina and feeling punches because yesterday I didn't have a day of training and a long journey from Jakarta," said the athlete who is familiarly called Jojo.

Meanwhile, the women's doubles coach, Eng Hian, said that his team looked optimal in this inaugural exercise. Especially Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva who tried to restore muscle conditions.

"For Apri/Fadia today, it's more muscle stretching, usually after a long journey there must be stiffness. So today it's more for body building, making movement," said Eng Hian.

"Certainly 60 minutes I think it is optimal for Apri/Fadia activities today. And I see that their condition is ok, it is better so for tomorrow I will prepare it again for an increase in intensity before the match," he explained.

All England 2023 itself will be held on March 14-19. This tournament with Super 1000 BWF level is fighting for a total prize of 1.2 million US dollars.
