Prior To The 2023 SEA Games, Indonesian Swimmers Tested In Two Countries

JAKARTAR - Secretary General of the Executive Board of the Indonesian Swimming Association (PB PRSI) Ali Patiwiri said Indonesian swimmers would undergo trials in Singapore and Malaysia in preparation for the XXXII/2023 SEA Games at Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on May 5-17.

The trial was carried out after previously PB PRSI announced the names of 23 swimmers who were included in the national training camp squad (pelatnas) for the Cambodian SEA Games as a result of the final national selection at the Bung Karno Aquatic Stadium (GBK), Senayan, Jakarta, on February 21-24, 2023.

After the swimming team is formed, athletes immediately make preparations. Then, they will take part in the Singapore National Age Group (SNAG) Swimming Championships 2023 at the OCBC Aquatic Center, March 14-19.

"Today, they (athletes) left for Singapore until March 20 to take part in SNAG. After Eid al-Fitr (Idul Fitri) plans to try out again to Malaysia. So there were two trials before the Cambodian SEA Games," Ali said as quoted by Antara, Sunday, March 12.

Ali revealed that the trials in Singapore and Malaysia were not for achievement. But more to regulate training periodization because what athletes need is a match practice.

"So we don't prioritize the medals, but rather for the training for the Cambodian SEA Games later," said Ali.

Of the 23 names selected for the national training, there were 11 male swimmers and 12 female athletes. From the men's sector, athletes at the XXXI/2021 (2022) SEA Games in Vietnam are back in the national training this time.

For example, I Gede Siman Sudartawa, Farrell Armandio Tangkas, Gagarin Nathaniel Yus, Erick Ahmad Fathoni, and Joe Aditya Wijaya Kurniawan.

Then there is also Moch. Akbar Putra Taufik, Mohammad Dwiki Raharjo, Nicholas Karel Subagyo, Pande Made Iron Digjaya, Romeo Lingga Alfarizi, and Shobrul Malikil Allim.

Meanwhile, in the women's sector, national team subscription athletes were again called, namely Angel Gabriella Yus, Azzahra Permatahani, Masniari Wolf, and Flairene Candrea Wonomiharjo.

There are also Adellia, Serenna Badminton Muslims, Gusti Ayu Made Nadya Saraswati, Philomena Binda Arkananta, Prada Hanan Farmadini, Nurita Monica Sari, Michelle Surjadi Fang, and Adinda Kusumah Ningrum.

The Indonesian swimming national team of the Cambodian SEA Games is under the direct guidance of Australian foreign coach Michael airing and assisted by Albert C. Sutanto, Hendry Suryaatmaja Sutanto, Ade T Kusiandaru, Arif Purbo Warsono, and Kevin Rose Nasution.
