JAKARTA - Kawasaki Puccetti Racing racer Can Oncu dramatically won the second round of World Supersport (WSSP) at the Mandalika International Circuit, Saturday, March 4. This was his first win at the World Superbike support event.

"I am very happy. My dream to stand on the podium was achieved today," said Oncu when interviewed after Race 1, as quoted by Antara.

Oncu managed to complete the entire lap dominantly and recorded the final time of 1 minute 36,876. He is also the fastest in L5 with a time of 1 minute 35,728 and an average speed of 161.7 km/hour.

He is able to use a combination to increase his speed and surpass his rivals. With this achievement, Oncu became the fourth youngest champion at WSSP, behind Andy Verdoia, Manuel Gonzalez, and Yoann Tiberio.

Oncu's achievements were warmly welcomed by fans, even fellow Turkish racer, Toprak Razgatlioglu, who immediately approached him on the podium shortly after the race was over.

"I am very happy with their presence. Everyone has respect and appreciation for each other. Thank you all for the support and I hope to see what happens later (in Sunday's race)," said the 19-year-old rider.

Oncu led a strong Race 1, even beating competitors such as Federico Caricasulo (Althea Racing) and Niki Tuuli (Dynavolt Triumph) who were right behind him with a time difference of +3,305 seconds and +4,172 seconds, respectively.

The two of them consistently changed positions, but Caricasulo was able to withstand Tuuli's pressure throughout the race before finally finishing in second place and winning his 28th WSSP podium. Meanwhile, Tuuli grabbed his 10th podium at the championship.

Meanwhile, Marcel Schroetter (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) is in fourth position with a difference of +7,813 seconds. There is also Nicolo Bulega (Aruba. It Ducati) who has just won his pole position at Mandalika and has to settle for finishing in fifth position with a fairly far margin of +11,558 seconds.
