JAKARTA - Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said Darwin Nunez's shoulder injury got worse. The striker suffered the injury while helping the Reds face Newcastle earlier this month.

The Uruguayan national team player was previously doubtful in a midweek match against Real Madrid. However, he finally started out and scored.

Then he was replaced after the game lasted an hour. After leaving the field, Nunez did not look difficult.

Questions began to arise when the striker was not present in the Liverpool squad to face Crystal Palace.

Klopp said the player's condition had improved against Madrid. However, the day after, Nunez's condition worsened due to a collision at the location of the injury.

"Darwin (Nunez) is fine with the injection against Madrid because there was no structural damage," Jurgen Klopp was quoted as saying by 90min.com on Tuesday, February 28.

"It (the injury) was very painful, but the day after the match against Madrid he got another crash there (Bahu) and he couldn't move his arm at all," he continued.

Klopp added that Nunez needed to undergo further treatment. "We have to see how long it takes. That's the reason why he didn't play." said Klopp.

Nunez will undergo a regular fitness test with the club's medical team to confirm his condition.

On the other hand, Liverpool are also not certain to be able to field their defender Joe Gomez who also has to undergo further examination after a muscle injury left him out against Palace.

Nearby, the Reds will undergo a home match in the 2022/2023 Premier League continued week against Wolves. The match will be held Thursday, March 2 at 03.00 WIB.
