Disappointment Rate In The Announcement Of Sergio Ramos Pension From The Spanish National Team

JAKARTA - Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) player, Sergio Ramos, has decided to retire from the Spanish national team. Ramos made the decision after receiving a phone call from La Furia Roja coach Luis De la Fuente.

This retirement news was shared by Ramos via his Instagram on Thursday, February 23 evening WIB. The former Real Madrid star opened his farewells.

"The time has come, the time to say goodbye to the national team, the Roja we love and love," wrote Sergio Ramos on his Instagram account.

"This morning I received a call from the current coach saying he would not call me, regardless of the level I can show or how I continue my career," Ramos continued.

Despite hoping to play longer for his country, Ramos chose to accept a decision from De la Fuente and decided to retire from the Spanish national team.

"This is the end of a journey that I hope will (go on) longer and hope to end better after achieving all the success we have achieved with Roja," added the player who is soon 37 years old.

Ramos regretted that this retirement decision did not arise from his own wishes, but because the coach of the Spanish national team no longer trusted him.

"I sincerely believe that this career deserves to end because of a personal decision or because my performance does not match what is appropriate for our national team, but not for my age or for other reasons," Ramos said.

Ramos' debut in the Spanish national team occurred when he was 18 years old. Throughout his career with La Furia Roja, Ramos became the player with the second most caps after Iker Casillas.

Ramos' total achievement was only 13 games apart from Iker Casillas who was in first place. Unfortunately, Ramos' chance to catch up was dashed, this was because he was no longer an option for Luis Enrique in the Spanish national team.

This moment was evident when Ramos was not brought to the 2022 World Cup finals by Enrique. With that situation Ramos felt that he was starting to be marginalized.
