JAKARTA - Tottenham Hotspur must be patient to get a touch from Antonio Conte again. The manager must return to rest for recovery.

Previously, Conte underwent surgery to remove bile bags. However, he returned to accompany the team on Saturday last week when Spurs lost 1-4 to Leicester City in the Premier League.

Then on Tuesday, he also accompanied Spurs when they lost 0-1 to AC Milan in the first leg of the Champions League last 16.

Conte, who was on the operating table on February 1, admitted that he was too quick to take to the field. Now, he has decided to focus on comprehensive recovery.

Through an Instagram upload, Conte admitted that he had underestimated the recovery procedure after the operation in a hurry to return to his activities.

"My heart has been a victim of my patience and now I have to stop until it recovers completely," Conte wrote.

"Those who know me know the burden I feel, but this is necessary. Come on Spurs," he continued.

Conte suffered a "severe stomach pain" which was later diagnosed as a collessitis following their 3-0 win over Preston in the FA Cup last month, and underwent surgery to lift his bile bags a few days later.

Spurs said assistant coach Cristian Stellini will take over Conte's role as he did when he gave his team a 1-0 win over Manchester City earlier this month.

"Following a routine postoperative examination in Italy yesterday, Antonio Conte will be with his family at home to fully recover from the surgery to remove bile bags," Tottenham was quoted as saying by AFP.

"Health is the most important consideration and everyone at this club wishes him a speedy recovery. Cristian Stellini will carry out the obligations of the first team."

Spurs, who are in fifth place in the Premier League standings, will host West Ham in a London derby match on Sunday, the weekend.
