Call Shin Tae-yong Kudang, Persija Coach Thomas Doll Sorry

JAKARTA - Persija coach Thomas Doll apologized after mentioning that the coach of the Indonesian national team, Shin Tae-yong, was animous.

"I want to apologize for what I said earlier where I called him aowous," said Thomas Doll as quoted by Antara, Sunday, February 12.

According to him, his words to Shin were excessive because they were personal.

Thomas Doll admitted his attitude was wrong and he apologized to the injured.

"This is something that is not good and therefore I apologize, both to coach Shin and the Indonesian football community," said the former German League club coach Borussia Dortmund.

Thomas Doll emphasized that he and Persija remain fully committed to the Indonesian national team.

The "Macan Kemayoran" team will provide playing minutes to their young players in Liga 1 so that they are ready to compete in the U-20 Asian Cup and 2023 U-20 World Cup.

Thomas Doll made the mention of a▁motif for Shin Tae-yong because Shin was not present at the virtual meeting between Persija and the Indonesian national team, Tuesday, December 7.

Shin's decision to send assistant coach Nova Arianto to represent him made Thomas Doll furious because in Persija camp he and all the coaching staff participated in the discussion.

Thomas Doll assessed that Shin Tae-yong should have come because the conversation via video call discussed the player's summons to the U-20 national team.

Persija is a club whose players are most called Shin for the U-20 national team training camp (TC), which is nine people.

The TC, which is the preparation for the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup, will take place on February 1-28, 2023 in Jakarta.

This makes Persija feel the need to provide other options because some of the players called are needed by the team to compete in the 2022-2023 Indonesian League 1.

Thomas Doll's criticism then continued to be called a▁motif for Shin because the South Korean coach starred in food advertisements in Indonesia.

"For me he is more like animous than a coach. That should not be done by a national team coach. I've never seen a coach do anything like that," said Doll at the time.
