Simple Name Becomes Ferrari's Choice For F1 Season 2023

JAKARTA - The SF-23 is the official name given by the Scuderia Ferrari team for the car that will compete in the Formula One (F1) competition for the 2023 season. This news was shared by Ferrari less than a week before the official launch.

Quoted from the official website, the naming of the SF for the unit was chosen by Ferrari in order to continue the consistency of the team and manufacturer. The method has been going on since 2015 through SF-15T, where the SF stands for Scuderia Ferrari.

"This is the eighth Ferrari Scuderia car designated as the SF. This (number 23) also refers to this year, namely 2023," Ferrari was quoted as saying on the official Formula 1 website on Wednesday, February 8.

For the 2023 season, Ferrari's new car is predicted to appear magnificent with red which is the hallmark of the team. The SF-23 will also be driven by Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz.

Regarding the F1 cars used by Ferrari from season to season, apparently there is an interesting fact behind it. Call it SF70H and SF71H used in the 2017 and 2018 seasons which are named after them as a form of celebration of the 70th and 71th birthdays of the racing team.

While the SF1000 in 2020 was named to celebrate the 1000th Grand Prix of the team, last year's F1-75 was named to mark 75 years since the first Ferrari-produced car was launched from the floor of their factory.

Next week, Ferrari will be the seventh team to introduce a new team and car to F1 2023. So far, Red Bull, Haas, Williams, and Alfa Romeo have launched their respective launches.
