Medals And Prouds That Never Prolifere For Benny Dollo

The news of Benny Dollo's death on Wednesday, February 1, left sorrow for Indonesian football lovers. However, pride for his figure as an outstanding coach did not fade.

This was also addressed by the family when the 72-year-old man's body was buried in the funeral home. The family gave a special place for medals and trophies owned by Benny Dollo during his life.

The medal was placed in front of the coffin of the Indonesian football mogul.

This was done on the basis of initiative as an illustration of their pride in the meritorious figure of Benny Dollo, not only for football but also for the family.

"This (chasing medals) is our initiative (the family), because he is instrumental. That (his performance as a coach) is an independence of him for us. So Papah deserves to be proud of us," said Eva Mende, Benny Dollo's daughter-in-law, when met at the funeral home, Thursday, February 2 afternoon.

During his 33 years in the coaching world, Benny Dollo has handled 10 well-known clubs. He is also trusted to double the national team from 2000-2001 and 2008-2009.

Some of the big clubs he has trained are Pelita Jaya West Java, Persita Tangerang, Persita North Jakarta, Persma Manado, Arema Malang, Persija Jakarta, Mitra Kukar, Sriwijaya FC.

When dealing with Pelita Jaya, Benny Dollo successfully presented the Galatama title in 1988, 1990, and 1993. Meanwhile, while while training Persita Tangerang, he succeeded in bringing the club nicknamed Laskar Cisadane into the runner-up of the 2002 Indonesian League.

It didn't stop there, Arema Malang was also a club that also felt the coach's cold hands. Under the tutelage of Benny Dollo, Singo Edan was able to win the Copa Dji Sam Soe in 2005 and 2006.

Benny Dollo's success in managing the club has earned Benny Dollo the confidence to handle the Indonesian national team. At this stage, Benny Dollo also managed to present the title through the Indonesia Independence Cup 2008.

It was the last title the Indonesian national team had ever branded at the senior level.

All the achievements achieved at various levels then made Benny Dollo get the 2007 Coach Tabloid Ball Award, Best Manager Serie B 2014, Best Youngest Coach in Serie B 2014, and Lifetime Achievement Indonesia Soccer Awards APPI 2020.
