JAKARTA - Mykhailo Mudryk has decided to anchor to Chelsea rather than Arsenal. His decision even made him accused of being a money player.

The strong statement came from former Arsenal striker Ian Wright. Quoted from Metro, the former British striker said Mudryk most likely joined Chelsea just because of the money he had to offer.

"He went there for money," Wright was quoted as saying by Metro on Friday, January 27.

The allegation relates to Chelsea's "crazy" which is willing to spend 100 million euros (Rp1.6 trillion) to bring Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk.

The details, 70 million euros as fixed costs and 30 million euros in the form of bonuses. The funds offered by Chelsea could not be matched by Arsenal.

Reportedly, the 22-year-old winger was actually close to joining Arsenal. In fact, Shakhtar Donetsk CEO Sergei Palkin said Arsenal had offers that were not much different from Chelsea.

However, Mudryk ultimately preferred to join the Blues over the Gunners.

When following Mudryk's development and knowledge on the Arsenal line, Wright initially admitted that he was very enthusiastic about the arrival of the Shakhtar academy dropout. Moreover, according to him, Mudryk is a player who fits Arsenal's game.

"With Mudryk's transfer, I am very excited about the news. With that (his arrival) we are starting to enter into a realm where it can realize the dreams of what we are trying to do," Wright said.

"He looks like the type of player who fits our team," Wright continued.

But in the end, Mudryk prefers to be a part of the Blues and makes Wright feel disappointed. But on the other hand Wright doesn't blame the user's decision number 15 at Chelsea for moving to Stamford Bridge.

"I'm a little disappointed, but Arsenal said, 'It's okay'," Wright said again.

"I will not blame him because he is someone who has more to do around him personally and in his life," Wright said.

Now Mudryk has officially become part of Chelsea and has made his debut in the 2022/2023 Premier League. The Blues introduced Mudryk as their new player on Sunday, January 15 at home to Crystal Palace.
