Sang Papa's Support That Makes KW's Princess Has So Much Tears

JAKARTA - Indonesian women's singles, Putri Kusuma Wardani (KW) accidentally presented a moment of emotion after winning in the first round of the Indonesia Masters 2023. With tears in front of her eyes, Putri shared her struggle which became a motivation to perform better in the round of 16, Thursday 26 January.

In the first round at Istora Senayan, Wednesday, January 25, Putri KW managed to win over Japan's representative, Aya Ohori. The match went so fierce through the rubber game which ended 21-17, 23-25, 23-21.

Even though she had to go through 87 minutes of the match and fight the strength of the Japanese representative, Putri KW seemed to continue to be enthusiastic and optimistic while on the field. This apparently could not be separated from the support of the family who was present at Istora Senayan.

After the match, Putri KW revealed that her long struggle while on the field was carried out in order not to disappoint all the support given to her. With emotion and teary eyes, she also mentioned her father's presence.

"I don't want to disappoint supporters who have watched, either because there are papas who have come all the way from home to watch. I don't want to disappoint papa," Putri said while sobbing in a press conference.

The cries of athletes who are also members of the Women's Police (Polwan) broke out when telling parents' struggles to support their careers as athletes.

"I've been with papa since I was little, since I first played too. (We) ride motorbikes in the rain, it's also hot with papa. My struggle is with papa," said Putri.

"Papa has been watching since yesterday, until taking leave. Papa came from Pamulang to give support. Earlier there was his brother and mother, papa. Yesterday, the five of them came with mom and others," said Putri KW.

The presence of the family to provide direct support is not just a moment that makes Putri KW touched and touched. Because it was used as fuel to spur her motivation to perform better in the round of 16 today.

This (family presence) made me determined to perform optimally. They have come so I also have to give my best. Previously it was only up to 32 big, but tomorrow (today) it must be more than that if you can continue to win until the final," explained Putri KW.

The enthusiasm given by the family is so meaningful for Putri KW, because in the round of 16, she challenged an opponent who was also more resilient. The victory over Aya Ohori brought Putri KW to meet the three seed from South Korea, An Se-young.
