3 Indonesian Representatives Only Until The Semifinals Of The India Open 2023, PBSI Team Manager Akui Target Not Successful

JAKARTA - The manager of the PBSI team, Aryono Miranat, said that the India Open 2023 was a tournament that was not successfully passed by Indonesian representatives. This is because the results achieved missed the target. In the BWF World Tour Super 750 tournament which took place on January 17-22, Indonesia initially sent 14 representatives. But only three representatives managed to advance to the semifinals, they were Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Jonatan Christie, and Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto. Just one step away from the final, these three representatives actually fell. In the match which took place at the KD Jadhav Indoor Hall, New Delhi, Saturday, January 21, Ginting failed to advance to the top party after losing 25-27, 21-15 to Kunlavut Vitidsarn from Thailand. Likewise with Jonatan Christie who was stopped by the number one player in the world from Denmark, Viktor Axelsen with 6-21, 12-21. Meanwhile, Fajar/Rian lost to the 2022 world champion from Malaysia, Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik with a score of 21-11, 15-21, 16-21. It was the defeat of three representatives in the semifinals that Aryono Miranat felt was a moment of Indonesia's failure. Because from the target of winning two champions, the result was that three representatives were stuck in the semifinals. "The target is expected to win two titles from the men's singles and doubles. Unfortunately, we didn't succeed," said Aryono Miranat in an official PBSI release. Regarding this failure, Aryono, who is also the men's doubles coach, said this because the level of world badminton competition today is so tight with the strength of the players being very evenly distributed. "The performance of the players, especially the three representatives who went to the semifinals, has performed optimally. They have fought hard, but the opponent is indeed better. Our players have performed their maximum performance. Moreover, currently the world competition is very tight," Aryono added. Especially for Fajar/Rian, Aryono assessed that his student's appearance had decreased slightly compared to when he appeared in Malaysia Open. "Fajar/Rian's performance decreased slightly in the semifinals. In the first game they played well. However, after the opponent changed the pattern of the game, they were not ready," he said. Even though at the India Open 2023 tournament, the performance of the Indonesian representatives fell in the semifinals, this is not something that must be complicated. The reason is, the players and teams must immediately focus on going to the next tournament, namely, the Indonesia Master 2023 on January 24-29.
