JAKARTA - Arsenal began to move in the January transfer market. The new player was finally brought to the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners officially recruited Belgian player Leandro Trossard from Brighton and Hove Albion. The player was brought in for a total transfer fee of 27 million pounds (IDR 503.7 billion).

It was not stated how long Trossard's contract was at The Gunners. The player who helped strengthen the Belgian national team at the 2022 World Cup was only mentioned as signing a long-term contract.

Trossard has the opportunity to make his debut for Arsenal, in Sunday's match, January 22, against Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium, London.

"I'm really happy to get started. This is a big club, and I'm ready to show what I can do to the fans," Trossard believes, as reported on the club's official website.

"Everyone has seen how good we are, and I am here to help achieve their dreams, including my own dreams," he added.

Trossard has scored seven goals this season from 16 Premier League games, including when he posted a hat-trick against Liverpool in October last year. Trossard's sharpness and experience is believed by Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta to be something important for his current team.

"This is very important. We have to think in the short term, but also in the medium and long term. He gave us all that. He is a very smart player," said Arteta, as quoted by Antara.

The Spaniard added, "When you see what he has done in recent years, he is a player who fits our way of playing. We are delighted to be strengthened by him."

Arsenal shifted their prey to Trossard after failing to get Ukrainian winger Mykhailo Mudryk, who moved closer to Chelsea last weekend.

Trossard himself ended his tenure at Brighton less than pleasant, after his agent asked the player to be transferred due to his feud with Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi.

He was later not included in the squad that won 3-0 over Liverpool on January 14, after leaving early training without asking permission.
